Felt Wall Hangings, Driftwood, and the Yorkshire Coast

My felt wall hangings are more than just handmade pieces — they’re small reflections of the quiet, grounding moments I find while walking the Yorkshire coast. Much of the driftwood I use is gathered on slow, meditative walks along the shore, where the sea has shaped each piece into something beautifully imperfect. I never rush the process — sometimes I carry a piece for miles before knowing what it might become.

The felt itself is made using wool noil and reclaimed silk waste — soft, textured materials that bring their own history to each piece. Using what might otherwise be discarded feels right to me; it’s part of creating in a way that feels mindful and respectful of the natural world.

Each wall hanging is a mix of land, sea, and quiet time spent outdoors — a bit of that coastal calm brought indoors.
